VIDEO: What Happens When Barcelona Star Lionel Messi Plays Until 40 Revealed in FIFA Experiment
Lionel Messi is the second best player on FIFA 17, behind only Cristiano Ronaldo, and his statistics and characteristics in the game mean he is an absolute pleasure to play with.
He was recently rewarded with a new Ultimate Team card after his double against Real Madrid, but how good a prospect is Messi when it comes to Career Mode?
While the 29-year-old is undoubtedly at the peak of his powers he is not one for the future when it comes to FIFA, especially given that most players see their stats decrease over time as the years go by.
One YouTube star, Rich Leigh, decided to see just how bad Messi's stats get as he approaches 40 years of age. Rich decided to move Messi from Barcelona to Real Madrid, an unthinkable move in real life, and he joined other stars like Ousmane Dembele, Dele Alli and Thibaut Courtois at the Bernabeu club.
And, as expected, Messi's superhuman abilities do drop incredibly as he gets older. Rated at 93 at the beginning of the experiment, the Argentina international falls to a crazy 57 by the time he reaches 40.
By the time he finally retires Messi has some truly shocking physical attributes, with his acceleration, agility and sprint speed all being rated at just 1. He still has some crazily good mental stats, including composure and attacking positioning, but his finishing has dropped to a rubbish 56.
