Schalke youngster Weston McKennie became the ninth U.S. player to feature in the Bundesliga this season -- a record number -- when he made his first-team debut in a 1-1 draw at Ingolstadt on Saturday.
McKennie was brought on for the final 13 minutes as a 10-man Schalke held on for a point against their relegated opponents.
The midfielder, 18 -- whose participation in the German under-19 championship had made him unavailable for selection for the U.S. U20 World Cup squad -- had only been promoted to the senior Schalke squad in the week leading up to the game.

With Aron Johannsson likely to leave Werder Bremen and Ingolstadt's Alfredo Morales and Darmstadt's Terrence Boyd both playing for a club that has gone down, the U.S. contingent in the Bundesliga is likely to be reduced next season.
However, Schalke forward Haji Wright has also been promoted to the senior squad, while Julian Green is set to return to the top flight with Stuttgart.
Eintracht Frankfurt full-back Timothy Chandler topped the list this term with 32 appearances, while Christian Pulisic, Bobby Wood, Morales, John Brooks and Fabian Johnson all played more than 20 matches for their clubs.
